Mumbai Style Pav Bhaji Recipe Delicious

Pav Bhaji recipe is most popular is Indian street food and mouthwatering recipe.Pav bhaji recipe makes with potatoes and some vegetables cooked in tomato base and serves with  pavs. In this session i am explaining  How to Make Delicious Pav Bhaji Recipe (Mumbai style Delicious Pav Bhaji Recipe) is smooth and buttery just like Mumbai street stalls serves. Recipe taste all depends on masala dont use readymade any masalas try make homemade Pav Bhaji masala it gives us delicious taste to Pav Bhaji Recipe.Use fresh buns for pav it gives us perfect taste(shallow fry  with butter it enhance the flavour).For fry use good quality butter for delicious taste.

For The Bhaji:

1 tbsp oil
2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp cumin seeds
1/2 cup finely chopped onions (2 onions)
1/2 cup chopped capsicum
3 Carrots cut into pieces and boiled
1 1/2 cups finely chopped tomatoes ( 5 Tomatoes)
1 1/2 tbsp masala for pav bhaji
2 tsp chilli powder
salt to taste
1/2 cup boiled and lightly mashed green peas
1 1/2 cups boiled,peeled and mashed potatoes
2 tbsp finely chopped coriander
1 tbsp Lemon Juice
1/2 cup Water
6 Dry red chillies
1 Inch Ginger
8 cloves of Garlic

For The Pav:
8 Pav Rolls
6 tsp butter for cooking
1 tsp pav bhaji masala

Preparation :

Boil all vegetables in a vessel and mash the veggies with potato masher till smooth and pulpy keep aside .Try to don't use pressure cooker.Soak Dry red chili in 1/2 cup water for 10 to 15 mins.Grind chili, ginger and garlic adding with the water to a paste.


Making Bhaji:

In a heat vessel and 2 tbsp of butter ,add cumin seeds wait for few minutes till seeds are crackle add chopped onions stir well and wait for 3 minutes till onions are translucent ,add chopped capcicum and add finly chopped tomatoes and add salt stir well and statue for 5 minutes till tomatoes becomes soft.After releasing butter from sides add chilli paste and turmeric powder , add pav bhaji masala stir and cook for 2 minutes if needed add some drops of water stir and wait for a minute add the mashed vegetables paste stir well  cook for 4 to 5 minutes switch of the flame.

Making Pav:

slice each pav buns or dinner rolls into two halves.Heat butter in a pan/tava and place the pav buns into it shallow fry both sides until light brown spots appeared.Transfer into a plate.Transfer the bhaji into serving plate garnish with coriander leaves and cubed butter and with lemon slices,onion slices.


  • Vary vegetables as per you wish.Mumbai pav bhaji always made with Butter.

  • you can made with oil also.Spice powders can be adjectable as per your taste.

  • If you want deep color for bhaji you can add small peace of beetroot while boiling the vegetables.

  • Garnish with mozzarella cheese(grated) in hot bhaji to make cheese pav bhaji.

  • If you don't have pav bhaji masala you can adjust with 2 tsp of garam masala and 1 tbsp of amchur powder.

  • Pav bhaji can be taken as lunch, dinner and snack even in birthday parties snack also.

  • If your making in bulk amount of bhaji pressure cook all vegetables and tomatoes and onions for 3 to 4 whistles and allow it to cool and make a fine paste of it in a blender.

  • Add lemon juice or amchur powder  to bajji mixture for tangy taste.
