One is South Indian breakfast and other one North Indian snack,We all are familiar with idles and pakodas but now we are making both together South Indian and North Indian,yummy yummy Stuffed Idli Ke Pakode.This is innovation recipe with idles.I am sure you and your family members enjoys this can pack this recipe as kids lunch box also.

Idli batter (Normal Idli Batter or Make Instant Idli Batter check here)– as required and make Idles or you can make leftover Idles.

For Sandwich:

10 Idles
1 Onion , chopped
1/2 teaspoon Cumin (Jeera) seeds
1 Green Bell Pepper (Capsicum) , chopped
1/2 cup Green peas (Matar) , frozen or fresh
1 Carrot (Gajjar) , chopped
2 tablespoons Green beans (French Beans) , chopped
2 tablespoons Cabbage (Patta Gobi/ Muttaikose) , shredded
2 Potatoes (Aloo) , boiled
Salt , as required

For Pakoda Batter:

2 Green Chillies , chopped
1/2 teaspoon Black pepper powder
Coriander (Dhania) Leaves , chopped
1/2 tablespoon Lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder (Haldi)
Cooking oil , as required
2 cup Gram flour (besan)


Take all the ingredients for making the batter in a big bowl and add little water ,half a cup of water. Whisk the batter till smooth. Add oil and again whisk.Do not make the batter thin otherwise it won’t coat the idles well.

heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once cumin seeds starts crackling add chopped onions and saute until translucent.Add all chopped vegetables except potato. Saute for 8-10 minutes or until they are cooked.

Add turmeric powder, salt, green chillies, black pepper powder, lime juice, boiled potato and coriander leaves. Mix well and saute it for another one minute.switch off flame and keep aside.


Slice each idli from the center into two halves Spread the mixture on one half and cover it with the other half.Heat oil in a kadhai(Pan). Now dip the stuffed idli one by one into batter and deep fry until golden brown and crisp. Keep them on a paper towel and cut the idlis into half and serve them.


  • You can also make the same recipe using bread that will make sandwich pakodas.

  • Cheese slice can also be used in this recipe.

  • Filing can be changed according to you liking, you can use regular potato filing or exotic vegetable filing, or dal or namkeen etc. Any combination which you liked.
